Stockmar wax crayons:                    A thoughtful and responsible choice

One of the key ingredients in our crayons is beeswax—a precious resource gifted to us by nature. We use as much as necessary and as little as possible, ensuring that we do not overexploit this invaluable material. Our carefully developed formula contains approximately 10% beeswax, which is the optimal amount needed to create the desired texture and durability while being mindful of environmental sustainability. 

Using more than 10% beeswax would not only be unnecessary, but also wasteful. Beeswax is a limited natural resource, and overharvesting can disrupt bee populations, which are crucial for our ecosystem. By using only what’s truly needed, we ensure that our crayons are both high-quality and environmentally responsible. As much as necessary, and as little as possible. 

In addition to beeswax and of course colour pigments, our crayons contain microcrystalline wax—a food-grade, high-quality subtype of paraffin wax. While this ingredient may seem unexpected in a sustainable product, it is a deliberate and thoughtful choice. We use only high-purity microcrystalline wax to ensure a clean, safe, and reliable experience.

Our special wax blend plays a key role in the distinctive layering effect that Stockmar crayons are known for. It enhances the transparency and brilliance of colours, allowing each layer to shine through without becoming sticky or dull. The result is a smooth, durable application that supports artistic expression of the highest quality.

Stockmar crayons are certified non-toxic with an AP (Approved Product)* safety certification, meaning they are completely safe for children of all ages. Our products are also free from common allergens such as soy, egg, nuts, and gluten, making them a worry-free choice for families with specific dietary sensitivities.
